Chives are onion leaves with similar health properties but a milder flavor.
Chives are a very nutrient-dense vegetable. These green, slender leaves boast, among other nutrients, phosphorus, potassium, magnesium, iron, copper, zinc, selenium, manganese, and vitamins A, B, C, and K. Chives contain only about 30 kcal per 100 g, which isn't much, especially considering how light they are.
Finely chopped fresh chives are great as a sprinkle for sandwiches, as an addition to salads, eggs, omelets and even soups, cottage cheese, cold soups, potatoes or dumplings.
