Mustard, a sauce consisting primarily of ground mustard seeds, is one of the most popular condiments in Poland. Mustard originated in ancient Rome at the beginning of our era and has an exceptionally distinctive, pungent flavor. However, not many people know that in addition to its undeniable taste, mustard also has numerous health benefits. This mustard-based product, with the addition of vinegar and often salt, pepper, sugar, or honey, provides, among other things, vitamins A, B6, C, and K; minerals such as calcium, copper, selenium, magnesium, and manganese; proteins, antioxidants, omega-3 acids, and fiber to support the digestive system. Mustard is especially recommended for salad dressings and meats, and has become an indispensable part of many barbecues.
