Quinoa - what does it taste like?

White quinoa is widely used in everyday cooking. When cooked until tender, it makes an excellent accompaniment to meat or fish dishes. Thanks to its swelling properties, it can also be a great thickener for sauces and soups with lots of vegetables. It's also important to note that this product is perfect for healthy desserts. It can be used to make both nutritious puddings and crispy cookies. Quinoa (cooked loosely) is also a great ingredient in delicious salads.

How do I cook quinoa?

Rinse dry quinoa grains thoroughly under running water. Then cook for about 10-15 minutes. Quinoa is cooked in a 1:2 ratio (1 cup of quinoa to 2 cups of water).

Quinoa has a unique amino acid composition. No other plant contains such a beneficial set of essential amino acids. Its protein content is between 12 and 22%. Therefore, quinoa is an ideal source of valuable protein in the diets of vegetarians, children, pregnant women, and the elderly.

It's also worth paying attention to the content of unsaturated fatty acids (linoleic and oleic acids). It's "protected" from oxidation by a large amount of antioxidant vitamins, mainly A and E. In addition, quinoa is a good source of B vitamins, folic acid, minerals such as magnesium, potassium, and calcium, as well as phytosterols, saponins, and phenols.

Comosa differs from other pseudocereals in its flavonoid content. Quinoa contains 58 mg/100 g, twice as much as cranberries. This is a valuable and unique feature, as cereals generally do not contain flavonoids.

Quinoa also contains fiber, including inulin. This gives it a strong prebiotic effect and can be recommended as a dietary measure for people with poor digestive microflora. Thanks to its saponin content, it can exhibit anti-allergic, anti-inflammatory, antifungal, antiviral, and immunostimulating effects.
