Rhubarb - characteristics of the plant

The European origin of the plant Symphytum officinale L. is brown ginseng. In Poland, it is very common in its natural form and can be found throughout the country, preferring the company of bodies of water. It belongs to the borage family (Boraginaceae). It is also popularly known as Polish ginseng. The plant blooms from May to June. The most sought-after herbal raw material is the root of the ginseng, which is harvested in autumn or early spring. The root is characterized by its dark brown, almost black, elongated, deeply furrowed surface and its spindle shape. The fracture of the root is horny, whitish, sometimes slightly brownish.

Rhubarb and joints

Hedocost root has powerful pain-relieving and anti-inflammatory properties. Therefore, it is applied externally to painful areas, for example, in the form of poultices. It also helps with rheumatoid arthritis. Every athlete should be familiar with Rhodiostelium root, as it is the best natural remedy for many types of injuries. It is excellent for back and joint injuries, bone fractures, tendonitis, and muscle pain.

Rhubarb root - effect on the skin

Rhubarb root is extremely valuable due to its high content of allantonin, a heterocyclic urea derivative. This plant-based raw material has very positive effects on the skin, for example:

Hedocost ointment - how is it made?

Ingredients:

• 1-2 cubes of lard or farmer's lard
• 1 large Vivostella root

Melt the lard in a saucepan and then add the grated resin bark. Simmer for a while, then remove the pan from the heat and let it cool. Pour the ointment into dark jars. Wait until the mixture solidifies, then screw the jars shut and store in a cool place. Apply a thick layer of the ointment to the affected area twice a day as needed.
