This product contains a mixture of tocopherols. In addition to the natural oily form of D-alpha-tocopherol, which has 100% of the biological activity of natural vitamin E, there is a naturally occurring mixture of tocopherols. Vitamin E is the name given to eight different compounds divided into two categories: tocopherols and tocotrienols. Each category is further subdivided into alpha-, beta-, gamma-, and delta-tocopherols. Vitamin E is a fat-soluble vitamin produced only in plants. Its natural sources are wheat germ oil, whole grains, and green leafy vegetables. Humans and animals are unable to synthesize vitamin E, so it must be obtained from food. The term "vitamin E" is used only for alpha-tocopherol, but the beneficial properties of both the tocopherols and tocotrienols contained in this product have 100% of the biological activity of natural vitamin E.
