Prickly pear is a plant in the cactus family, probably native to Mexico. Sometimes grown for edible fruit and used as animal feed and for processing sprouts, the prickly pear is popularly grown in homes and greenhouses as an ornamental plant.
The fig opuntia is a plant with an extremely positive effect on our health and figure. It can boast, among other things, the content of vitamins - A, groups B, C, D, E and K - and minerals - potassium, phosphorus, silicon and iron. It's also a notable source of dietary fiber. And that with only 42 kcal per 100 g.
Prickly pear fruit is best eaten raw as it contains the most vitamins. As a spice, it can be served with tea, preferably green. They also have a sweet effect as an addition to a dessert or in the form of jam, syrup, juice or jelly.
