Reishi owes its properties to its high content of active compounds such as sterols, alkaloids, and polysaccharides, which exhibit potent biological activity. These polysaccharides have been linked to immunostimulatory, hypoglycemic, and antioxidant effects. Reishi can also reduce the harmful effects of stress, improve well-being, and increase physical fitness. The mushroom has an adaptogenic effect, which consists in mobilizing the body to combat oxidative stress.
