DESCRIPTION

Tabebuia avellanedae is an evergreen, up to 30 meters tall tropical tree that grows in the mountains of South and Central America (up to 1,500 meters above sea level) with pink, spherical inflorescences. Pau d'Arco (Tabebuia avellanedae) is also known as La Pacho (Argentina, Paraguay) and Ipe Roxo, Morado (Brazil).
The inner layer of the bark, which contains one of the active ingredients – lapachol – is primarily used to extract plant raw materials. All of the active ingredients of this plant are not yet fully understood. The South American Indians called the Taji tree, which means "having strength and power."
Pau d'Arco is used for colds because it strengthens the body's defenses.
