Nori is dried, roasted, and pressed sheets of edible seaweed made from the red kelp species called Porphyra (Porphyra yezoensis, Porphyra tenera). This seaweed is cultivated on numerous offshore farms in Asia, the largest of which is Japan. Nori contains many beneficial minerals, including iodine, magnesium, potassium, iron, copper, zinc, cobalt, and vitamins A, B1, B2, B6, niacin, and C.
