What is hibiscus?

Hibiscus (Chinese rose) is actually Ketmia, although in Poland the Latin name Hibiscus is much more widely used. Hibiscus sabdariffa, also known as Ketmia or Sudan mallow, is an ornamental plant with numerous health-promoting properties, but is also used in cosmetics and cooking. It is characterized by its high content of anthocyanins, polyphenols, flavonoids, vitamin C, and organic acids.

The role of hibiscus in our body

Hibiscus and its properties have been used in traditional medicine for many years. It is primarily used to cleanse the body of toxins, as it stimulates the metabolism and simultaneously has a mild laxative and diuretic effect. An additional benefit of this effect is the prevention of water retention in the body.

Regular consumption of hibiscus tea has a positive effect on normal cholesterol levels and blood pressure, and has a positive effect on liver function. The vitamin C contained in this plant has a positive effect on blood vessels, strengthening their walls and preventing them from rupturing and the formation of spider veins.
