St. John's Wort - what is it?

St. John's wort [Latin: Hypericum perforatum] is a plant species belonging to the family St. John's wort. It is native to Europe, Western Asia, and North Africa. St. John's wort, also known as St. John's Wort, is a perennial herb that grows in clearings, meadows, thickets, and forest edges. Due to its versatile effects, it is one of the most widely used herbs.

Properties of St. John's Wort

St. John's wort has many health-promoting properties thanks to its constituents. Substances such as the diuretic hyperoside, the flavonoid hypericin (red pigment), the capillary-sealing substances quercetin and rutin, the antibiotic hyperforin, and the bacteriostatic tannins that act against diarrhea make St. John's wort one of the most valuable plant resources. St. John's wort for calming

St. John's wort has a calming effect and is therefore used for nervous exhaustion, anxiety, or nervous imbalance. It is also used for psycho-vegetative disorders and depressive states. St. John's wort owes its calming and antidepressant properties to hypericin. Studies show that this substance inhibits the breakdown of neurotransmitters (serotonin), the insufficient amount of which in the body leads to symptoms of low mood, anxiety, and depression.

Use of St. John's Wort

Add 1 teaspoon of St. John's wort to 200 ml of boiling water. Cover and let steep for 20 minutes. Drink 2-3 times daily before meals.
