Ginkgo biloba is a large tree native to China, but it came to Europe and the United States from Japan, hence its Japanese name. Ginkgo biloba has been used in China for thousands of years. Ginkgo owes its health-promoting effects to flavonoid glycosides (mainly quercetin, kaempferol, and isoramnetin) and terpenolactones (ginkgolides A, B, C, and bilbalides). The product is standardized to 24% flavonoid glycosides and 6% terpene lactones.
