Black elderberry (Sambucus nigra L.), also known as common elderberry, pharmacy elderberry, or wild boar elderberry, is a unique plant known primarily for its beautiful small flowers, bouquets of which often decorate our homes in spring. However, its aesthetic value is not so wild without offering anything to offer. Both the fruits and flowers of the elderberry are valuable plant raw materials, rich in, among other things, flavonoids with powerful antioxidant properties, vitamin C to support the immune system, beta-carotene to maintain healthy skin, and B vitamins necessary for the proper functioning of the body, as well as mineral salts - iron, potassium, and calcium - essential oils, sterols, pectins, and tannins. Elderberry syrup is a great addition to teas and desserts.
