Brussels sprouts, colloquially known as Brussels sprouts, is a biennial plant of the cabbage family and is a botanical variety of cabbage. Resembling a miniature cabbage, this vegetable is likely a cross between a kale and a head cabbage. Brussels sprouts originated in Belgium but have been grown in many parts of Europe since the 17th century.

Frequent consumption of these babies can strengthen hair, skin and nails, protect gums and help maintain hormonal balance. Brussels sprouts are an excellent source of vitamins - A, from groups B, C, E and K - and minerals - calcium, potassium, magnesium, iron, manganese, phosphorus, copper and zinc.
Brussels sprouts are best cooked and steamed to avoid losing their valuable properties. They can also be eaten raw. Brussels sprouts are recommended for soups and salads. They also go well in a roux with breadcrumbs and butter or as an addition to mashed potatoes.
