Golden flaxseed - characteristics of the plant

Golden flax ( Linum flavum L.) belongs to the flax family, grows 30 to 50 cm tall, and is recognizable by its pale yellow flowers. It occurs naturally in dry meadows and on slopes, and its flowers can be admired from June to August. Flaxseeds are widely used in naturopathy and dietetics. They are flat, 2-3 mm in size, golden seeds. When soaked in water, they expand several times over while becoming surrounded by a large amount of mucilage.

Golden and brown flaxseeds - differences

The first distinguishing feature between these two types of flaxseed is their fat and calorie content. Golden seeds are "fitter," meaning they contain slightly less of these than the brown variety, but have a higher protein content. Another important difference is their polyunsaturated fatty acid content. Golden flax contains significantly more of these, as well as two essential fats that the body cannot produce itself: alpha-linolenic acid (ALA) and linoleic acid. In contrast, brown flax contains more monounsaturated fatty acids.

Flaxseed - Properties

Due to its proven health-promoting properties, flaxseed is widely recommended for preventative health. Its most valuable components include antioxidants, fiber, fatty acids, and phytoestrogens. Regular consumption of flaxseed contributes to maintaining the body's physiological balance. Flaxseed is particularly important for:

• Constipation - due to its high fiber content, flaxseed helps regulate the digestive system and is effective in treating intestinal problems.
• Weight loss - apart from its nutritional richness, peanuts are an ideal supplement for people on a diet for one important reason: they lead to a faster feeling of satiety and suppress the appetite.
• Reflux - thanks to its mucilage content, it relieves the burning sensation in the esophagus and protects the mucous membranes.
• Stomach ulcers - in the case of stomach ulcers, regular consumption of flaxseed quinoa protects the mucous membranes and relieves discomfort and pain.

Application

Take 2-3 teaspoons daily after soaking or as an addition to meals, yogurt or bread.

Ingredients:

• 4 tablespoons flaxseed
• 250 ml water
• Honey or other sweetener
• Fruit (optional)

• The recipe can be expanded with your favorite fruit.
