Milk thistle ( Silybum marianum (L.) Gaertner) is an inconspicuous, coniferous thistle flower, a plant in the Asteraceae family. Native to the Mediterranean region, milk thistle can be found both in the wild and cultivated in Poland. Valued for its antioxidant and health-promoting properties, milk thistle is rich in, among other things, vitamin E, the so-called youth vitamin, which plays an important role in metabolic processes and is essential for the formation of red blood platelets, riboflavin, selenium, copper, and zinc. Milk thistle can help protect the liver and support digestion. Recommended for cocktails, muesli, and salads. It is also perfect as an ingredient in ice cream and desserts.
