Cucumbers (Cucumis L.) are annual plants of the gourd family. There are 50 to 55 species depending on the source, with the most economical being cucumbers (C. sativus) and melons (C. melo).
Cucumber juice has a number of regenerating properties, hence its use in cosmetology. Fresh slices of cucumber on the eyelids can help relieve fatigue, get rid of puffiness and bruises around the eyes.
The cucumber fruit consists of 96% water and is low in calories (approx. 13 kcal per 100 g). is also a source of vitamins and minerals.
