Miechunka (Physalis L.), also known as Peruvian cherry or Brazilian raisin, is an annual plant native to the tropics or a perennial plant in the nightshade family. It originates from South America but is now cultivated throughout the world, including in Poland.
The fruit of the dome resembles tiny tomatoes or cherries wrapped in a delicate, golden cocoon of thin tissue paper. They come in yellow, orange, and green, and their taste is bittersweet and sour. These small, microscopic lantern-like fetuses of an exotic plant boast vitamins A, B, and C, and minerals such as phosphorus, calcium, and iron.
Mushrooms are an excellent addition to both sweet and savory dishes. They can be used to create unique, exotic sauces, plum jam, and marmalades. The apple fruit can also be eaten raw or as a snack.
