Folic acid is one of the most important compounds for the developing fetus in the womb. A mother's deficiency of this nutrient is one of the causes of, among other things, defects in the child's nervous system. Folic acid is also important for the health of expectant and breastfeeding mothers. It helps with, among other things, proper blood production and the functioning of the immune system.
PRENACAPS FOLATE is intended for women planning pregnancy, pregnant, and breastfeeding. It contains 800 µg of a biologically active form of folic acid (Quatrefolic®) with proven bioavailability.
The product does not contain, among other things, artificial fillers, sweeteners, magnesium stearate.
Suitable for vegans thanks to the plant-based pullulan capsule.
In order to be utilized by the body, folic acid must be converted into its active form after consumption. Data indicate that, on average, one in two people in Europe has disorders in the conversion of folic acid into its active form. Quatrefolic® folic acid, used in PRENACAPS FOLATE, is an active form that requires no conversion and can be used immediately by the body. In addition, studies have shown that Quatrefolic® achieves over 3 times higher maximum concentration of the active ingredient 1 hour after administration compared to folic acid and over 9 times higher total bioavailability of the active ingredient compared to folic acid. Quatrefolic® also achieves over 10% higher maximum concentration of the active ingredient after administration compared to another active form – calcium L-methylfolate.
Specialists recommend taking folic acid at a dose of 400 to 800 µg/day at least 12 weeks before a planned pregnancy, and continuing this dose throughout pregnancy and while breastfeeding. The optimal dose should be determined with your doctor.
