Psyllium is a widely cultivated plant whose seeds contain large amounts of fiber (mainly insoluble fiber). However, in practice, plantain has not achieved the widespread use and recognition it deserves in Poland. In southwestern European countries, plantain is used as a mucilaginous raw material that supports bowel function and bowel movements. It is recommended for the elderly, pregnant women, and children. Psyllium husks have a gentle, effective, and harmless effect.
The mechanism of action of psyllium husks is that the seeds swell in the presence of water and produce significant amounts of mucilage. Experiments have shown that the mucilage content of the husks is approximately 10-15%. In the presence of water, the husks can increase in volume by up to 20 times. Thus, by ingesting psyllium husks, the volume of the husks in the intestine increases, stimulating peristalsis, and the mucilaginous texture facilitates the excretion of feces. This mechanism is very effective and does not lead to habituation.
Another positive effect is the action of auxubin, which is contained in the husks of psyllium plantain. The raw material also contains inventin and emulsin, protein, starch, 3% fatty oil, and some tannin-like compounds.

Fiber powder from psyllium husks, vegetable capsule shell (hydroxypropylmethylcellulose), anti-caking agent: vegetable magnesium stearate.
