Iron aids in the proper production of red blood cells and hemoglobin. It also contributes to the maintenance of normal psychological functions and the functioning of the immune system. It also reduces feelings of tiredness and fatigue. Vitamin C increases iron absorption.
PRENACAPS FERR C is intended for women who are planning a pregnancy, are pregnant, and are breastfeeding. The product contains 28 mg of iron and vitamin C, which increases absorption. Thanks to the plant-based pullulan capsule, it is suitable for vegetarians and vegans.
The product does not contain any artificial fillers, preservatives, sweeteners, among others.
The Polish Gynecological Society team recommends iron supplementation for women who are trying to conceive, are pregnant, or are breastfeeding and are at risk of iron deficiency. The recommended dose is at least 18 mg when trying to conceive, 26-27 mg during pregnancy, and 20 mg during breastfeeding.
During pregnancy, iron requirements are higher due to the maternal needs and the developing baby, the placenta, and increasing hemoglobin mass, especially in the second and third trimesters of pregnancy. In breastfeeding mothers, the increased requirement is associated with the need to replenish iron losses with secreted milk.
Iron deficiency during pregnancy can have very serious consequences, such as anemia, reduced fetal growth, impaired immunity, poor concentration and physical fitness, and impaired fetal memory. It can also lead to premature labor.
