The multidirectional effect of vitamin D

Vitamin D exerts its effects through specific receptors in the form of transcription factors. Calcitriol, the metabolically active form, acts by activating the vitamin D receptor (VDR). The identification of this receptor (a factor present in all cells of various tissues) made it possible to confirm the pleiotropic, i.e., multidirectional, action of vitamin D. The VDR receptor is found not only in bone cells, renal tubules, and intestinal epithelium, but also in the heart, brain, blood vessel walls, adrenal glands, pancreatic β-cells, small intestine, large intestine, parathyroid glands, lymphocytes, macrophages, and others. Calcitriol influences the transcription of more than 200 genes.

Recommended intake / method of preparation:

Ingredients: Maltodextrin, capsule shell (glazing agent - hydroxypropylmethylcellulose), anti-caking agent (magnesium salts of fatty acids), vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol).
