DESCRIPTION

Coenzyme Q10 (ubiquinone) is an organic vitamin-like compound. It is produced in the body to ensure the proper functioning of mitochondria, where energy is produced at the cellular level. Furthermore, coenzyme Q10 is actively involved in the production of energy necessary for the entire body. Ubiquinone is an important element for the proper phosphorylation of ADP to ATP (i.e., the process of ATP formation). ATP, or adenosine triphosphate, is the body's basic energy carrier. It is also a compound that provides muscles with the energy they need for contraction.
Coenzyme Q10 naturally has a reduced effect after the age of 35 (due to limited production of the component). Therefore, an increased need for coenzyme Q10 can occur as a result of aging, high levels of stress, and in physically active individuals. Its deficiency can cause dysfunction of many organs, as well as the circulatory, nervous, and immune systems. This can lead to a deterioration in general well-being, impaired concentration, and susceptibility to infections. Coenzyme Q10 can be obtained through foods such as spinach, broccoli, fish, organ meats, and whole grain products.
