Extra virgin olive oil – as is well known, free radicals are responsible for the oxidation process and thus for the aging of our cells. Olive oil contains significant amounts of antioxidants: vitamin E and polyphenols. It contains very low amounts of saturated fatty acids.

Lutein – belongs to the group of carotenoids, natural pigments, and fat-soluble. Carotenoids are produced by plants, algae, and photosynthetic bacteria. Lutein is a component of the macula of the eye and serves as a protective barrier against UV light, acting as an antioxidant.

Astaxanthin - is a pink-orange pigment from the group of carotenoids, is produced by some algae species and gives, among other things, a characteristic color to shrimp and salmon meat.

Advanced technology is used to produce BioAstin Natural Astaxanthin from Haematococcus Pluvialis algae. The initial cultivation phase of these algae takes place in closed tank systems with a capacity of up to 40,000 liters. A further short 5-7-day "red-dyeing" cycle takes place in open ponds with a capacity of 50,000 liters. At each stage of BioAstin production, the Haematococcus algae cultures are examined microscopically to ensure that the cultures are clean and free of contaminants. At the end of the "red-dyeing" cycle, the algae are harvested, washed, and dried. The final stage of BioAstin production is the extraction of dried Haematococcus algae biomass using supercritical carbon dioxide to produce an oleoresin that is free from biological or environmental contaminants. The supercritical extraction process is an important production step that ensures the potency, purity and quality of BioAstin Natural Astaxanthin.
It is a common misconception that closed microalgae cultivation tanks protect against contamination by other organisms. However, this is not true. Such closed cultures can also be contaminated by other algae, fungi, and protozoa. In such a situation, the removal of biological contaminants in closed tanks can be very difficult due to the specific nature of this type of cultivation system.
