Agar-Agar 20 g Vita-Natur

Organic agar is a natural, odorless gelling agent. This substance swells considerably in the intestines and increases the volume of its contents, thus providing a mild laxative effect. The product can be used instead of gelatin. Powdered agar dissolves perfectly in water at a temperature of about 90°C. It freezes into a gel at 30–40°C, solidifying even without refrigeration. It is a product of natural origin obtained from the thallus of red algae, which are grown primarily off the coast of Japan. Their production requires repeated drying and heat treatment. Nutrient agar consists primarily of galactose, a sugar that is difficult for humans to digest. In industry, gelatin agar is used, for example, to make candies with a foam or gel consistency. In pharmaceuticals, it is used as a swelling agent and tablet disintegrator. Agar is naturally rich in fiber, vitamins K, E, and B6, folic acid, and omega-3 fatty acids. Unlike gelatin, it can be reheated several times.
