HYALURONIC ACID AS SODIUM HYALURONATE

In the human body, hyaluronic acid occurs in the form of hyaluronan and sodium. More than half of the total amount of this compound is found in the skin and intercellular spaces. Hyaluronic acid, like its sodium salt, is a highly hygroscopic component, meaning it strongly absorbs water—one molecule of hyaluronic acid can bind up to 250 water molecules, which is directly responsible for proper skin hydration and elasticity. When the level of hyaluronic acid (sodium hyaluronate) in the skin decreases, collagen fibers degenerate and the internal intercellular space breaks down, causing the skin to become dry and flabby, lose its firmness and elasticity, and wrinkles to appear.

The direct application of sodium hyaluronate to the skin helps to fill its deficiencies, maintain its proper level, and has a moisturizing, smoothing, and anti-wrinkle effect.
