DESCRIPTION
Reduced glutathione is one of the most important antioxidants. It is a molecule composed of three amino acids—glycine, cysteine, and glutamine. Intense physical exertion increases the need of working muscles for low-molecular-weight antioxidants, including glutathione. With age, the concentration of glutathione in tissues and cells decreases. Glutathione has high antioxidant activity, meaning it neutralizes the effects of free radicals. It is an essential component of the body's natural defense system. It protects collagen fibers from free radicals, thereby having a positive effect on skin elasticity. It enhances the effects of L-citrulline, which plays an important role in the production of nitric oxide in the body. Coenzyme Q10 is a vitamin-like compound produced in the body to ensure the proper functioning of mitochondria, where energy is produced. Coenzyme Q10 actively participates in the energy production process required for the proper phosphorylation of ADP to ATP (phosphorylation is the process of ATP formation). ATP, or adenosine triphosphate, is the body's primary energy source. ATP is a compound that provides muscles with the energy they need for contraction. Therefore, physically active people may experience an increased need for coenzyme Q10 due to stress or aging. Its deficiency can lead to dysfunction of many organs, as well as the circulatory and immune systems.
